College Writing - How to Write an Introduction Essay

College Writing - How to Write an Introduction EssayAn introduction essay is probably the most important part of your college application. A first impression, especially one that lasts more than one page, can make or break a student's chance at admission. In this essay, you must let your reader know what type of student you are. Of course, you don't want to simply let them know you're in high school but you do want to provide your potential student with a brief and direct introduction to your life and interests. Before writing an introduction essay, it is important to be sure your college writing teacher approves it. It is better to be too direct than to not give the reader enough information to know who you are or what your goals are. An introduction is just the first step of the admissions process and you want to make sure you present yourself accurately so you don't have to redo it. That said, if you think it is too long, ask for a shorter one.Your reader will need to know what you r goals are in college. Who are you looking to learn more about? What do you hope to gain from your education? Is it so you can get a higher grade? Or do you want to do more than that? You should begin with a paragraph that describes what you are hoping to gain from your education. Describe your goals in as much detail as possible. That way your reader knows why they should trust you with their future. Then, in the next paragraph, you should describe what you hope to learn about. For example, you may wish to learn more about: sports, clubs, class, majors, and extracurricular activities. This paragraph is where you should say whether or not you are interested in going to school that way. As far as possible, don't rely on an actual answer that is already provided by the college. The last paragraph is your follow-up paragraph. It should describe what your academic goals are after you've finished college. That way, your reader knows how much to expect from you based on what you've told the m so far.Now you are ready to write your essay. Begin by completing the introduction paragraph. Finally, use the paragraphs describing yourself and your goals, as well as the paragraph about your expectations for college. Next, use the first paragraph to explain how you learned about your goals and objectives. The introduction should be a key part of your college application. If your college writing teacher approves your essay, you have done a good job. If they don't, ask them to suggest ways to improve your essay.
